House Manager

Live-in, lead care provider role

At Branching Tree, home is about connection, belonging, and shared life. We’re looking for a compassionate, joyful person or couple to join our household team as a House Manager, supporting adults with intellectual disabilities and autism in daily life, meaningful relationships, and community activities.

THE ROLE

The House Manager is the heart and guide of the household. Living alongside three adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and two live-in Direct Support Providers, you will help cultivate a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment where everyone can thrive. You will share meals, routines, and daily life with residents and coworkers while maintaining private space for rest and balance. Household expenses such as food, utilities, basic maintenance, and shared activities are covered through a monthly household budget.

This is a relationship-centered, lifestyle role that blends leadership, mentoring, caregiving, and practical household management. You will provide direct support to residents, guide and coach coworkers, coordinate schedules, and establish daily rhythms that reflect the needs, preferences, and strengths of the household. This role involves providing consistent, hands-on support throughout the day to adults with significant support needs, including support with daily routines, communication, and emotional regulation.

The anticipated start date for this position is March/April 2026.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create and sustain a safe, supportive, and inclusive home, modeling respect, dignity, and positive communication; build genuine, mutually beneficial relationships with residents and Direct Support Providers

  • Oversee daily household operations, including meal planning, cooking, cleaning, budgeting, and basic maintenance; coordinate necessary maintenance to assure a clean home as part of the collective effort of all support professionals

  • Provide direct support with activities of daily living, personal care, social engagement, and community participation

  • Make decisions regarding emergencies, resident behavior, staff assignments, and activity schedules

  • Be cognizant of all Branching Tree policies with regard to the care, safety, treatment and health of all residents, including fire drill procedures, locations and use of fire-extinguishing equipment and emergency exits, runaway procedures, first aid and seizure procedures, and medication procedures

  • Develop and pivot household schedules and coverage, ensuring smooth flow and collaboration among residents and staff

  • Respond calmly and thoughtfully to challenges and unexpected situations, providing guidance during moments of stress, anxiety, or behavioral intensity

  • Collaborate with families, contracted agencies, and community-based providers to align support with person-centered goals

  • Monitor the health and safety of all residents, complete accident reports, and coordinate routine doctor/medical/dental appointments and maintain records

  • Ensure that behavioral, medical, or other emergency situations are communicated and documented according to the Emergency Procedures Policy, and that medication is dispensed according to doctors orders and documented

  • Coordinate social, leisure, and recreational time, and ADL’s (Activities of Daily Living) for shower and bedtime programs, daily activity schedules in accordance with resident’s Individualized Support Plan

  • Schedule and participate in staff meetings and trainings; lead and mentor live-in Direct Support Providers, providing guidance, support, and coaching to strengthen household teamwork and continuity of care

  • Promote self-determination and meaningful participation, helping residents develop daily living skills and independence

  • Foster a positive, inclusive household culture, supporting relationships, emotional well-being, and community connections.  

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Experience supporting high-needs adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities; experience with behavioral interventions is highly valued

  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills

  • Ability to mentor, guide, and collaborate with a small household team

  • Warm, grounded presence with empathy, patience, and a sense of humor

  • Comfortable living and working in a close-knit, shared home and community with flexible scheduling

  • Initiative, reliability, and the ability to take ownership of the household’s flow

  • Willingness to complete required trainings and background checks

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Willing to move into and model building an inclusive community.

  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License and safe driving record

  • Non-smoker

  • Successful completion of a mandatory background check

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

This is a full-time, live-in leadership position. Compensation includes a competitive salary along with a comprehensive package of housing, allowances, and other included benefits.

  • Salary: $40,000–$45,000 annually, commensurate with experience PLUS free room and board in a private living space within in a 4,000 sq. ft. home with pool on 12 secluded acres

Direct Support Provider

Live-in, relationship-centered role

At Branching Tree, home is about connection, belonging, and shared life. We’re looking for a compassionate, joyful Direct Support Providers to join our household team, supporting adults with intellectual  disabilities and autism in daily life, meaningful relationships, and community activities.

THE ROLE

Direct Support Providers live in the home alongside three adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, the House Manager, and another live-in Direct Support Provider, forming a collaborative household team. This is a relationship-centered role grounded in presence, connection, and active participation in daily life.

Direct Support Providers support household routines, engage meaningfully with residents, and help create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive home. The role also includes providing individualized support to residents with higher support needs, offering direct assistance with personal care, hygiene, social engagement, and behavioral support.

The anticipated start date for this position is April 2026. Length of commitment: 1 year.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Direct Support Providers support residents in all aspects of daily life, including:

  • Sustain a safe, supportive, and inclusive home, modeling respect, dignity, and positive communication 

  • Develop individual relationships and work with each resident according to his/her ISP, ADL objectives and specific behavior

  • Collaborate with the House Manager and other Direct Support Providers to maintain smooth household flow and coverage

  • Be cognizant of all Branching Tree policies with regard to the care, safety, and treatment of residents, including fire drill procedures, locations and use of fire-extinguishing equipment and emergency exits, runaway procedures, first aid and seizure procedures, and medication procedures

  • Support residents in managing emotions, navigating challenging moments, and fostering positive coping strategies

  • Provide hands-on assistance with daily living activities, including personal care such as hygiene and grooming, shower routines, and bedtime programs

  • Support the waking up, dressing, grooming and breakfast of the residents prior to their leaving the residence in the AM

  • Support social, leisure, and recreational time, and ADL’s (Activities of Daily Living) in accordance with resident’s Individualized Support Plan

  • Support household routines and activities as guided by the House Manager, including meal preparation, cleaning, laundry, and daily routines

  • Drive residents to and from activities in the community

  • Participate in staff meetings and trainings

  • Encourage meaningful connections in the wider community through outings, recreational activities, and social events

  • Contribute to an inclusive, respectful household where everyone feels valued and supported

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

We are seeking individuals who bring strong relational skills and alignment with our values. Ideal candidates demonstrate:

  • Experience supporting adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (preferred, but not required)

  • Reliability, flexibility, and empathy

  • A warm, person-centered approach and ability to engage positively with residents

  • Comfort living and working in a close-knit, shared community flexible scheduling

  • A sense of humor and the ability to contribute to a positive household culture

  • Willingness to complete required trainings and background checks

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

  • Monthly stipend-based compensation PLUS free room and board in a private living space within the 4,000 sq. ft. community home with pool on 12 secluded acres

  • For applicants with limited experience, an initial paid internship period may precede placement on the full compensation scale

  • Annual compensation adjustments based on experience and time in role; student loan repayment (negotiable)
